About CJ

Kids music that is truly unique! 

Chris Handy has been writing and performing children's music under the stage name, "CJ" since 1992. His music style has been characterized as piano-driven, upbeat pop for young listeners.  Throughout the 1990's and 2000's, CJ worked closely with educators and parents to create music that was usable in the classroom, as well as entertaining in the home. His first 6 recordings have garnered awards and praise from such sources as "Parents' Choice Foundation" and Andy Baumgartner (1999 National Teacher Of The Year).   More recently, his recordings have had a broader target audience focus with personal (and danceable) songs for young families and kids of all ages.  Since CJ "cut his teeth" as a live performer in schools and small communities, he has developed a keen sense of engagement with young audiences providing energetic and highly interactive live shows.  CJ captures the basics of kids songs and takes them to the next level using music styles including pop, rock, funk, r&b, blues, disco, and country.  This musical mix has become his signature recipe, making him one of the most popular artists in elementary classrooms today. CJ's playful approach to music continues to steal the hearts of little ones and big kids (adults) everywhere.
